Julie Halama

On Sunday, June 4th, my cousin Jenny and I will be bike riding across Eastern Long Island with family and friends to raise money in support of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. We are committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is currently incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference.

Multiple myeloma is a disease that has directly impacted our family. In 1993 our uncle Billy lost a six year battle with the disease, and more recently in 2014, our cousin Sean was diagnosed. Sean is a devoted husband and father of four, a talented and award winning video editor and producer, and an avid baseball fan, amongst many other things. His courage and commitment in the face of this disease is truly amazing and inspires us everyday to live life to the fullest.

Funds raised through MMRF events like ours have helped to:
• Nearly triple patient survival
• Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
• Launch over 60 new clinical trials

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. Nearly 90% of the MMRF total budget goes directly towards research and related programming. The MMRF has received the “Best in America” Seal of Excellence from the Independent Charities of America and Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the past twelve years in a row. The MMRF has also been recognized by Philanthropedia as one of 16 expert-identified, high-impact nonprofits in the field of cancer."

While the MMRF has made enormous progress, they still have much to do and cannot continue to do great research without your support. Please join me to fight multiple myeloma, as your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families!

Thank you!

Julie and Jenny
