Biking for Debbie!

Biking 4 Debbie

Biking 4 Debbie

In a couple of weeks, I will be rising early to participate in a bicycle ride and I have decided to honor a special person. Earlier this year, my cousin Debbie was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and is currently receiving treatments twice a week. The news was difficult to take because my cousin is someone I admire, someone I have grown up with, laughed with, and celebrated many holidays at the “kids table” with. Deb is a great Mom and good friend to many because she is kind, thoughtful, and gracious. I have wanted to do something since I heard the sad news. Bicycling is my thing, but I couldn’t work out an existing event with my schedule, so I am making my own – Biking for Debbie!

On Sunday, September 9th, at 8:00 am, I will “roll out” as part an annual bike event hosted by my bicycle club, the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia, called the Scenic Schuylkill Century. This year I will riding 80 miles for Debbie help to raise critical funds for MMRF. I am committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is currently incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference. No donation is too small- please help me raise the goal! I would so appreciate it and I know Debbie will too! Thank you so much!

Funds raised through MMRF events have helped to:
• Triple patient survival
• Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
• Launch over 70 new clinical trials
• Create the largest genomic data set in any cancer today—leading the
effort to treat myeloma based on each patient’s genetic make-up

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts.

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. Since its inception, the organization has raised almost $400 million and directs nearly 90% of it’s expenses to research and related programs. The MMRF has received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for sixteen years.

While the MMRF has made enormous progress, they still have much to do and cannot continue to do great research without your support. Please join me to fight multiple myeloma, as your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families!

Thank you!

Jen

Matching Gifts

Double the impact of your donation with a matching gift from your employer!

Matching gifts are an easy way to further your contribution to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Many companies offer a matching gifts program as a benefit to their employees. Some employers will even match donations from retirees, spouses, and part-time staff.
