Break for a Cure! We need your help!

Buzz Durkin's Karate School

Buzz Durkin's Karate School

Life turned upside down for long time students of the dojo, Zach and Jacob Haynes, when in January their father Todd was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma – an insidious form of cancer. The Haynes family has been long time supporters of the dojo – with Zach and Jacob regularly assisting with classes, performing in demos, and assisting with special events. Let’s show them, their father Todd, and their mother Donna the kind of support that a dojo can provide.

To show our support, we are hosting a Board Breaking Week from June 10-15 at Buzz Durkin Karate School @ 2 Commerce Dr, Atkinson, NH 03811 . During this week members of the dojo and our community are encouraged to join us in breaking a board to support finding a cure for Multiple Myeloma. We are asking all participants to donate a minimum of $5 per board broken. Participants are invited to break as many boards as they wish during the week.

All proceeds will be given to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Thank you for your support – your generosity will make a huge impact on finding a cure and helping the Haynes Family!

Funds raised through MMRF events have helped to:
• Triple patient survival
• Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
• Launch over 70 new clinical trials
• Create the largest genomic data set in any cancer today—leading the
effort to treat myeloma based on each patient’s genetic make-up

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers.  The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts.

The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. Since its inception, the organization has raised almost $400 million and directs nearly 90% of it’s expenses to research and related programs. The MMRF has received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for sixteen years.

While the MMRF has made enormous progress, they still have much to do and cannot continue to do great research without your support. Please join me to fight multiple myeloma, as your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families!
